Once upon a time I registered a domain with the intention of creating a specifically music-targeted blog. The name I went for was Extended Play since that was the name I’d done a radio show under for some five years, but that dot com was of course long gone. So I settled on extplay.com and duly paid my twelve bucks to put my tag on that.

That was some years back and — as with a bunch of other domains I own — it simply sat there as a whenever and I paid my retainer automatically each year.

Then I decided I needed to spin my musical passions away from this blog, which had evolved into some sort of odd amalgam of random — often extended — thoughts and rambles about travel, music copyright, music industry, politics, food and more, with the original musical raison d’blog being lost in the morass.

Thus, it was time to spin that off and Extended Play finally found a life:

Extended Play

This of course, doesn’t mean I’ll kill this blog — quite the opposite, it means it will still be the place I’ll post any thoughts other than those devoted to the music itself, including music industry stuff. Extended Play will be the play I throw up the links I may come across as I trawl the net looking for the stuff I love, and — irregularly — post about an album, a single or an online mix that I like.

Mostly for no other reason that I do, and like so many people that love music I like to tell others about it — and be told about it. So every now and then I might get somebody else to write something about a record they regard as rather special.
